About the Course

This 6-week course aims to develop students' understanding of important mathematical concepts such as equality, the order of operations, and equivalent numerical expressions. Throughout the course, students will learn how to translate written real-world and mathematical descriptions into numerical expressions and vice versa. They will also be able to determine the validity of equations involving the four basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

One of the key objectives of this course is to help students develop proficiency in writing equations to solve real-world problems that involve unknown whole numbers. By analyzing given mathematical or real-world contexts, students will learn how to identify the unknown variable and write an equation that involves the appropriate operation(s) to determine the unknown value.

Furthermore, this course emphasizes the importance of analyzing patterns and relationships between inputs and outputs. Students will learn how to recognize and interpret patterns in numerical sequences and understand the relationship between different variables in a given mathematical expression or equation.

By the end of this 6-week course, students will have developed a solid foundation in understanding mathematical equality, the order of operations, and equivalent numerical expressions. They will be able to confidently translate between written descriptions and numerical expressions, determine the validity of equations, and write equations to solve real-world problems involving unknown whole numbers. Additionally, students will have the ability to analyze patterns and relationships between inputs and outputs, enabling them to make informed mathematical predictions and interpretations.
